Hope and healing are the hardest concepts when sharing my story. How can I give hope when I am still healing, when I am so angry and hurt, when I don’t know if I will ever feel safe in this world. It is so easy to give in to despair. I did. For months, utter despair. Although I shared my story on academic harassment here. I also went through something much worse. So, it takes inhuman strength to choose healing and hope and moving forward every single day. But I don’t have a choice. Either I succumb to despair and never stand up again and let all these horrid people win OR I find a way to win for myself. So, what I can tell other survivors is that we can still choose ourselves, we can choose life, we can choose to see ourselves are glorious yet fierce. Because no one in this world is stronger than us who have to choose every day, who have to fight despair every day, who have to see the beauty of life through all the darkness. I am sorry that I cannot give you tips on how to do this because I am still struggling myself. But, when I choose myself I feel the hope and the strength and the beauty within myself. Little by little, day by day, to choose myself over despair heals me a little bit more, and gives me a little more hope, and now I see a path forward. So, I hope you will find the strength to choose yourself every day until you are able to recognize your undeniable splendour.
