Resources Survivor Q & AWow. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Your attorney's actions were not only criminal but a severe violation of professional ethics and trust. Please know you have multiple options for reporting and getting support.
Since the assaults occurred across different counties, you can file police reports in any jurisdiction where incidents took place. Additionally, this is absolutely a matter for the State Bar Association - attorneys are held to strict ethical standards, and sexual assault of clients is grounds for disbarment. Consider contacting your state's Victim Rights Law Center or a victim advocate who can help guide you through both criminal and professional reporting processes.
Documentation will be crucial - keep records of all dates, locations, communications, and any witnesses. A victim advocate can help you gather and organize this information while supporting you through the process. They can also connect you with trauma-informed counseling and other support services.
RAINN's hotline can be accessed on line or by phone (800.656.HOPE). They can connect you with legal and advocacy resources based on your geographic location. Given the complexity of your situation, you might also consider consulting with a civil attorney who specializes in victim services. They can advise on additional legal options and help protect your rights in your ongoing criminal case.
Remember: Your safety and wellbeing come first. Take things one step at a time, and don't hesitate to lean on professional support services throughout this process. We appreciate you reaching out to us. You are not alone.
