Message to a Survivor
There will definitely be someone out there who will listen to you. You may make mistakes by talking to the wrong person, but believe that there is someone out there who will listen to you.
Message of Healing
I think healing is about feeling that it's okay to be alive, that life has meaning. I hope my children will feel happy to be alive.
I was abused by my mother. She was strict with me, hitting me, telling me I was stupid and wishing I'd never been born. I felt like I didn't deserve to live. My mother wasn't just a scary person; she was also kind, especially to my younger brother Name. I met my current husband at University, got married, and had a child. I was overcome with anxiety that I might do the same to my child as my mother, and I cried and complained to my husband many times. My husband recommended that I see a counselor, and I'm currently receiving counseling. I always thought my mother was strict because of my fault, but now I realize that I'm not the only cause. By talking about the things my mother said and did to me that I'd kept hidden, I feel like I've lightened the burden I felt. I'm sharing this here again, hoping that it will bring some comfort.
