Message of Healing
When I'm finished with the guilt and the shame. And the debilitating grip of self-loathing...I began to peel back the layers...and understand, accept, and forgive myself. When my heart tells me there would be no way I would ever go back... and the things I used to hate about myself in the mirror aren't quite as sharp and ugly. And I smile again...that's how I knew I was healing. I still stand in the middle of the room sometimes not sure whether to go left or right or just drop down into a crying jag. But that's OK because just like grief and just like love when we heal we heal in our own way. And self-love will protect me from ever having an experience that hurt me that badly again. The greatest of these is love, and that means for everybody, even ourselves.
