Parece que estas personas manipularon no solo tu cuerpo y tus límites, sino también tu comprensión de quiénes eran para ti y qué significaba la familia. El dolor y la confusión que sientes al no saber cómo llamarlos son totalmente comprensibles, ya que el lenguaje está ligado a la identidad, la memoria y el significado. Parece que no se trata solo de cambiar nombres. Estás reconstruyendo por completo tu comprensión de esas relaciones, y es comprensible que sientas angustia sobre cómo dirigirte a personas que desempeñaron un papel maternal en tu vida, pero que en realidad abusaron de ti.

La sensación física en el pecho al usar esos términos familiares es tu cuerpo diciéndote algo importante. Esa opresión o incomodidad es una respuesta al trauma; tu sistema nervioso reconoce la desconexión entre las palabras que usas y la realidad de lo que esas personas te hicieron. Si sientes opresión en el pecho al oír ciertas palabras, es la forma en que tu cuerpo te señala angustia, y puede que necesite tiempo para adaptarse a nuevos términos o, si es necesario, a no usar ninguno. Al mismo tiempo, usar sus nombres de pila tampoco se siente bien porque, durante mucho tiempo, esos no fueron los nombres que tuvieron significado en tu vida. Estás atrapado entre dos verdades: la relación que creías tener y la realidad de lo que realmente sucedió.

Ahora no hay una forma correcta o incorrecta de referirse a ellos, y puede ser útil experimentar con diferentes nombres antes de decidirse por uno que le parezca digno y que a la vez reconozca lo que hicieron. Algunos sobrevivientes encuentran útil crear términos completamente nuevos; a veces, simplemente decir «las personas que me criaron», «esa pareja», «esa persona» o «el hombre que me lastimó» puede ser suficiente.

Otros pueden optar por etiquetas completamente nuevas basadas en las iniciales, usando su nombre y apellido juntos para crear distancia, u otra referencia que elimine cualquier connotación afectuosa. Algunos sobrevivientes alternan según el contexto: usan términos familiares al hablar de recuerdos de la infancia porque reflejan cómo lo vivieron en ese momento, mientras que usan nombres de pila u otros descriptores al hablar del abuso o su comprensión actual. Algunas personas descubren que, con el tiempo, un enfoque se vuelve más natural que otros, mientras que otras siguen teniendo dificultades, y ambas experiencias son válidas. Puede resultar extraño al principio, y eso es completamente normal. La sanación a menudo implica realizar cambios que alteran viejos patrones.

Lo más importante es darte permiso para afrontar esto como necesites, aunque sea de forma desordenada o inconsistente. Puede que uses términos diferentes en días distintos, en conversaciones diferentes o incluso dentro de la misma frase. Tu sanación no requiere que lo tengas todo resuelto a la perfección. Tienes derecho a hablar de ello de cualquier manera que proteja tu paz.

Si te resulta difícil lidiar con estos sentimientos a solas, hablar con un terapeuta capacitado o contactar con un servicio de apoyo puede ser un paso útil, brindándote un espacio para procesar las complejas emociones que conlleva cambiar el nombre de personas que antes considerabas parte de tu familia. Actividad de puesta a tierra

Encuentra un lugar cómodo para sentarte. Cierra los ojos suavemente y respira profundamente un par de veces: inhala por la nariz (cuenta hasta 3), exhala por la boca (cuenta hasta 3). Ahora abre los ojos y mira a tu alrededor. Nombra lo siguiente en voz alta:

5 – cosas que puedes ver (puedes mirar dentro de la habitación y por la ventana)

4 – cosas que puedes sentir (¿qué hay frente a ti que puedas tocar?)

3 – cosas que puedes oír

2 – cosas que puedes oler

1 – cosa que te gusta de ti mismo.

Desde donde estás sentado, busca objetos con textura o que sean bonitos o interesantes.

Sostén un objeto en la mano y concéntrate completamente en él. Observa dónde caen las sombras en algunas partes o quizás dónde se forman formas dentro del objeto. Siente lo pesado o ligero que es en la mano y cómo se siente la textura de la superficie bajo los dedos (esto también se puede hacer con una mascota, si tienes una).

1\. ¿Dónde estoy?

2\. ¿Qué día de la semana es hoy?

3\. ¿Qué fecha es hoy?

4\. ¿En qué mes estamos?

7\. ¿En qué estación estamos?

Coloca la palma de la mano derecha sobre el hombro izquierdo. Coloca la palma de la mano izquierda sobre el hombro derecho. Elige una frase que te fortalezca. Por ejemplo: "Soy poderoso".
